DJ, a masculine job only?

“I’m not a female DJ, I’m a DJ”

The quote comes from Clara3000, a parisian dj recently interviewed in ID France:

Since its inception, electronic music and the djs world are predominantly runned by men. We often hear about the differences between the number of male and female artists booked for festivals. Also, you should be aware that women are paid less than men for equal work (as in many other professions). In recent years, some women manage to shine on an international scale through their productions and dj sets. Here are some artists I want to highlight and which are worth following!

Nina Kraviz (Russia)

Anna Lunoe (Australia/USA)

Hannah Wants (UK)

Tokimonsta (USA)

Maya Jane Coles (UK)

Nicole Moudaber (Lebanon/UK)

Miss Kittin (France)

Bella Sarris (Australia)

Magit Cacoon (Germany/Israel)

Clara3000 (France)

I hope that you discover at least one dj, come back soon on Klap for more discoveries!
