Amongst the 2015 list of unexpected rap releases, « To Pimp a Butterfly » was the biggest surprise. We knew that Kendrick was working on his second album but we didn’t have much information about it. When I heard the news, I was waiting for it like a birthday present.
Like any fans, I was excited to hear what K.dot had prepared for us. The result is a total style change from his debut album « GKMC ».
This album displays various styles : jazz, soul, funk but still with a west coast touch.“Wesley’s Theory” is amazing, just kicking the album perfectly with so much energy and rhythm. The first 3 singles showed the diversity of Kendrick’s music and have us a nice preview of his album. Interludes makes it cohesive and sounds like a real concept album. All I can say is that it’s a masterpiece!
« Institutionalized, manipulation and lies… Black is successfull cause black men meant to be special »
